I am having trouble digesting some of the language usage...the word "foreign language" always stops me. Ojibwemowin is not a foreign language, it is the original and rightful language of these lands. I can't pick myself up and get on a plane and be fully immersed back into my cultural language, this is where it is at and I have to actively and aggressively pursue Ojibwemowin endeavors to even be a little immersed. I told my friend Greg that Tuesdays would have to stop as I can't keep up, all he said was "well, your the one who wants to learn." I told him after the Ojibwemowin Adoopowin that I could not stop. Yesterday I also picked back up on the feast on Sundays in town...I have never heard the like of beauty that was coming into my ears yesterday morning. I have never heard more beautiful sounds, wow, what an awsome Sunday I had! You never know when that's gonna happen like that. Seriously beautiful sounds yesterday. It's hard to break away from the language learning, I wish there was not a shift necessary at all.
We study excuses for not coming to school on Ojibwemowin class. Once in a blue moon I'll go over to the casino, and sometimes I'll see our teacher over there too. So he wrote a funny sentence I'd like you all to say out load for me...no I am so joking, but this would probably be the only reason I miss class...
...if I hit the 1,ooo spins on diamond quest. So I asked how to say...
...I hit the 1,ooo spins over at the casino...
...Ningii'nimiikwa'aanan midaaswaak gezhibaabidegin iwidi ataagewigamigong.
nimiikwa'aan(an)-to hit it, like something your aiming at, midaaswaak-1,000, giiziibaabiday-goes around, a spinning action, iwidi-over there, ataagewigamigong-at the casino.....so then you say Niwii'....instead if Ningii, and it means-
...I want to hit the thousand spins over there at the casino...
...Niwii'nimiikwa'aanan midaaswaak gezhibaabidegin iwidi ataagewigamigong.
